This is a complete curriculum resource for K-6 elementary general music for the entire month of May. It is designed to be adapted to a variety of teaching needs, so the material is organized by concept with a sample lesson sequence to show how to put them together. It is designed so you can create your own specific lesson plans based on the standards you need to address, the amount of class time you have, and the students and resources you have in your classes. Everything you need to teach the lessons are included. May’s curriculum includes a world music unit in most grades, with some hip-hop lessons for 6th grade and rhythm and other basic concept review in other grades as well.

The materials in this set are the ones I use in my own classroom. My teaching is based on training in a variety of methodologies including Orff, Kodaly, Dalcroze, and Suzuki, and I am careful to incorporate a wide range of learning styles and interests in my lessons. This set can be used as a stand-alone curriculum- there is enough material to cover the 8 half-hour lessons per month that I see each class- or you can pick and choose your favorites to incorporate into other curricula you may already be using.
While the resource is designed to meet the U.S. National Core Arts Standards, there are no formal lesson plans referencing specific standards- you can easily copy and paste into whatever format you need for your school.
